Owner Out Thousands Due To Vandalism Of House

A property owner filed a complaint with law enforcement officials Wednesday, saying that thousands of dollars worth of damage had been done to one of his houses by the former tenants.

The victim reported to deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department that the tenants had lived at the Pondfield Road property between January 31, 2012 and January 31, 2013.

Upon inspecting the home, he said he discovered that three walls had been removed along with all of the ductwork.

In addition, the victim said that seven doors had been destroyed and the copper wiring stripped from the home. Altogether, he estimated damages to total $5,400.

The matter has been turned over to detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division for further investigation.
